Larry Cohen: Ex-Aegis Advisor Faces Investor Complaints

A recent investor complaint against New York, New York financial advisor Larry Cohen (CRD# 3191796) alleges that his conduct resulted in damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker with Dominari Securities, having previously been registered with Aegis Capital.

Mr. Cohen’s BrokerCheck report discloses multiple investor complaints. The most recent, filed in April 2026, alleges that as a representative of Aegis Capital, he recommended unsuitable investments, breached his fiduciary duty, and violated Regulation Best Interest. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages.

An earlier investor complaint, filed in October 2025, alleges that as a representative of Aegis Capital, he breached his fiduciary duty, made unsuitable recommendations, misrepresented material facts, omitted material facts, and breached FINRA rules in connection with private placement investments. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages.

A third investor complaint, filed in January 2025, alleges that as an Aegis representative, he made unsuitable recommendations. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages.

Numerous industry rules protect investors against the conduct described in the complaints involving Mr. Cohen. FINRA Rule 2020 provides that no broker shall “effect any transaction in, or induce the purchase or sale of, any security by means of any manipulative, deceptive or other fraudulent device or contrivance, and brokers may not make misrepresentations of material fact about the investments they recommend. Under FINRA Rule 2111, a broker must “have a reasonable basis to believe that a recommended transaction or investment strategy” is appropriate for the customer’s objectives, a basis reached through reasonable diligence into the customer’s investment profile. Investment advisors are separately held to a fiduciary standard, a duty distinct from the suitability obligation that governs brokers. FINRA Rule 2010, finally, requires representatives to “observe high standards of commercial honor and just and equitable principles of trade.” Brokers who recommend unsuitable investments may be held liable in the event of losses.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Larry Cohen holds 25 years of securities industry experience. Based in New York, New York, he has been registered as a broker with Dominari Securities since 2024. His past registrations include Aegis Capital, Osprey Partners, Paulson Investment, Gilford Securities, Advanced Equities, VFinance Investments, Joseph Gunnar, Capital Growth Financial, Maxim Group, Ryan Beck, Fahnestock, CIBC World Markets, Lehman Brothers, and First Institutional Securities. His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Municipal Securities Representative Examination, or Series 52; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; and the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63. He holds 31 state licenses. (Information current as of August 1, 2026.)
