Aleksandr Dyo: Ex-Profectus Wealth Advisor Faces Investor Complaint

Sacramento financial advisor Aleksandr Dyo (CRD# 4660824) is involved in an investor complaint alleging he engaged in various forms of misconduct relating to pension funds. Records maintained by the Securities and Exchange Commission indicate that he is currently an investment advisor with Smart Portfolio and Managing Director of Wealth Excel, having previously been registered with Profectus Wealth Management.

Mr. Dyo’s Investment Adviser Public Disclosure discloses one investor complaint. Filed in April 2023, it alleges that as a representative of Profectus Wealth Management, he breached his fiduciary duty, committed fraud, and made misrepresentations of material facts in connection with pension funds. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages.

Investors should be aware that the fiduciary standard requires financial advisors like Mr. Dyo to place their clients’ interests above their own. It also stipulates that they must fully disclose any conflicts of interest while operating in good faith and with loyalty to the client. The fiduciary standard is similar to but distinct from the suitability standard, as outlined by FINRA Rule 2111, which states that brokers must recommend only investments and strategies that are appropriate for a customer’s background and objectives.

According to the Securities and Exchange Commission, Aleksandr Dyo holds six years of securities industry experience. Based in Sacramento, California, he has been an investment advisor with Smart Portfolio since February 2023. He was previously registered with Profectus Wealth Management in Los Angeles, California from 2017 until 2023. His credentials include the passage of one securities industry qualifying exam: the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65. He is licensed as an investment advisor in California. (Information current as of June 3, 2023.)
