Brian Cote: $1 Million Complaint Against Ex-Triad Advisor

A recent investor complaint against Nashville financial advisor Brian Cote (CRD# 4218494) alleged that his conduct resulted in damages of more than $1 million. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is a broker and an investment advisor with Gramercy Park Wealth Advisors (GPWA), having previously been registered with Triad Advisors.

Mr. Cote’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in November 2023, it alleges that as a representative of Triad Advisors, he recommended an unsuitable alternative investment in a real estate product. The pending investor complaint alleges damages of $1.05 million.

Gramercy Park Wealth Advisors’ website features a profile of Mr. Cote that describes him as the firm’s Founder and CCO. “With over 28 years of investment related experience, Brian helps clients reach personal financial goals everyday,” the profile states. “GPWA is unique in that the firm is not tied to products or services from a single company or family of companies.”

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Brian Cote holds 23 years of securities industry experience. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, he has been a broker and an investment advisor with Gramercy Park Wealth Advisors (GPWA) since 2014 and 2017, respectively. His past registrations include Triad Advisors (Nashville, Tennessee; 2012-2104), Smith WB Financial Group (Nashville, Tennessee; 2008-2012), Triad Advisors (Shrewsbury, Massachusetts; 2010-2011), Alpha Equity Research (north Hampton, New Hampshire; 2006-2008), and Taylor Securities (Brentwood, Tennessee; 2000-2006). His credentials include the passage of six securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Principal Examination, or Series 24; the Compliance Officer Examination, or Series 14; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65. He is licensed in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. (Information current as of December 26, 2023.)
