Donald Robbins: MML Advisor Faces 8-Figure Complaint

Charlotte, North Carolina financial advisor Donald Robbins (CRD# 4364668) recently received an investor complaint alleging that his conduct resulted in eight-figure damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with MML Investors Services, doing business as Robbins Financial Group.

Mr. Robbins’ BrokerCheck report discloses three investor complaints and one termination. The most recent, filed in July 2026, alleges that as a representative of MML Investors Services, he “was involved in a life insurance premium financing strategy that used securities accounts as collateral, limiting access to those assets so that they had to liquidate other securities to meet liquidity needs.” The pending complaint alleges damages of $17.5 million.

An earlier investor complaint, filed in 2016, alleged that as a NYLife Securities representative, he recommended unsuitable products and allocations. In 2017 the complaint reached a settlement of $230,000.

A third investor complaint, filed in 2008, alleged that as a NYLife Securities representative, he made unauthorized transfers. The complaint reached a settlement of $25,000.

A fourth disclosure on Mr. Robbins’ BrokerCheck report concerns his departure from NYLife Securities. Filed in 2016, it states that he was permitted to resign “after a review of his business practices raised a number of concerns about his sale of life insurance, annuity and investment advisory products.”

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Donald Robbins holds 25 years of securities industry experience. Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with MML Investors Services since 2016. His past registrations include Eagle Strategies, NYLife Securities, and New England Securities. His credentials include the passage of five securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6; the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65; and the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63.
