Justin Moore: Merrill Lynch Advisor Lands Suitability Complaint

Greensboro, North Carolina financial advisor Justin Moore (CRD# 6001708) recently received an investor complaint alleging that his advice resulted in damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Merrill Lynch.

Mr. Moore’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in April 2026, it alleges “suitability and Reg BI concerns” in connection with investments recommended as a representative of Merrill Lynch. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages.

As FINRA explains, Regulation Best Interest creates a “best interest” standard for investment advisors under which they must recommend investments which they “have a reasonable basis to believe” are in the best interest of their retail customers. Under Regulation Best Interest, advisors are required to comply with a “care obligation” requiring them to understand the potential risks, rewards, costs and other features of an investment recommendation; have a reasonable understanding of the customer’s investment profile, including their financial situation, tax status, liquidity needs, risk tolerance, investment horizon, and investment objectives; and based on the previously described elements, have a reasonable basis to believe “that the recommendation or advice provided is in the retail investor’s best interest,” according to the SEC.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Justin Moore holds 14 years of securities industry experience. Based in Greensboro, North Carolina, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Merrill Lynch since 2012. His credentials include the passage of three securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66; and the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7. He holds 45 state licenses. (Information current as of May 23, 2026.)
