Matt Greene: Investor Complaint Against LPL Advisor

A recent investor complaint against Covington, Louisiana financial advisor Matt Greene (CRD# 3175382) alleges that his conduct resulted in damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker with LPL Financial and an investment advisor with Pelican Advisory.

Mr. Greene’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in March 2026, it alleges that as a representative of LPL Financial, he failed to adequately disclose risks associated with an investment recommendation. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages.

FINRA Rule 2010 states that FINRA-associated brokers must “observe high standards of commercial honor and just and equitable principles of trade.” Various forms of unethical conduct, including the failure to disclose risks, constitute violations of FINRA Rule 2010, provided the activities occur “in the conduct of [the member’s] business.” Brokers who violate Rule 2010 may be found liable for damages in the event of losses.

For reference, FINRA Rule 2020 stipulates that financial advisors at FINRA member firms must not “effect any transaction in, or induce the purchase or sale of, any security by means of any manipulative, deceptive or other fraudulent device or contrivance.” What this means is that brokers are forbidden from making misrepresentations or omissions of material information—that is, information posing a significant consideration for investors weighing a particular investment product or strategy—related to their recommendations. Brokers who make misrepresentations may be held liable for damages in the event that an investment suffers losses, or they may even be held subject to disciplinary action by securities regulators.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Matt Greene holds 21 years of securities industry experience. Based in Covington, Louisiana, he has been registered as a broker with LPL Financial since 2012 and an investment advisor with Pelican Advisory since 2024. His past registrations include Securities America, Credit Suisse Securities, JP Morgan, and Banc One Capital Markets. His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7. He is licensed in Alabama, California, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. (Information current as of April 16, 2026.)
