Former Lakeland, Florida financial advisor Mohammed Karim (CRD# 4419277) was recently sanctioned and barred in connection with alleged rule violations. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he was most recently registered as a broker with Truist Investment Services.
A Letter of Acceptance, Waiver, and Consent (No. 2025087042501) describes FINRA’s disciplinary action against Mr. Karim. Filed in May 2026, it alleges that he refused to appear for testimony requested as part of FINRA’s investigation into his termination from Truist Investment Services. Finding that his refusal violated FINRA Rule 8210, the agency barred him from associating with any member firm in any capacity. For reference, FINRA Rule 8210 empowers FINRA to require associated persons to provide testimony concerning matters under its investigation, and also forbids such persons from failing to provide requested testimony.
Mr. Karim’s BrokerCheck report discloses his termination from Truist Investment Services. Filed in August 2025, the disclosure states that a review of his “activities with respect to an elderly couple (former Firm clients)” found that he “allegedly admitted to law enforcement that he used the former clients’ credit card for his own personal expenses.” The disclosure states further that he “was in possession of former clients’ identification documents among other things,” and that he “may have exerted influence over the clients to place his name on external accounts as the beneficiary.”
A third disclosure on Mr. Karim’s BrokerCheck report concerns criminal charges against him. Filed in July 2025 in Polk County, Florida, the charges include “scheme to defraud,” “US of ID of person under 18Y or over 60Y,” “Grand Theft,” “Possession of stolen credit card,” “Fraudulent use of credit cards,” and “Use of ID w/o consent.” He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Mohammed Karim holds 10 years of securities industry experience. Most recently based in Lakeland, Florida, he was last registered as a broker with Truist Investment Services from 2021 until 2025. His past registrations include BB&T Securities, Wamu Investments, SunTrust Investment Services, PNC Investments, JJB Hilliard WL Lyons & Company, and Dreyfus Investment Services Company. His credentials include the passage of five securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; and the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6. He is no longer licensed as a broker. (Information current as of May 12, 2026.)
