Former San Antonio, Texas financial advisor Ron Botello (CRD# 4809045) was recently sanctioned and suspended in connection with alleged rule violations. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he was most recently registered as a broker with Osaic Wealth, doing business as Platinum Wealth Solutions of Texas.
A Letter of Acceptance, Waiver, and Consent (No. 2025085326301) describes FINRA’s disciplinary action against Mr. Botello. Filed in December 2025, it alleges that as an Osaic Wealth representative, he borrowed funds from two clients while he was a representative of Osaic Wealth. Both clients were senior retail investors, according to the Letter, which states that he borrowed a total of $173,000: one customer loaned him $128,000, while the other loaned him $45,000, and he allegedly used the funds “to make a payment in connection with a personal investment.” Whereas he was personally friends with the customers, FINRA states that “neither was a member of his immediate family.” “The loans were undocumented,” the Letter adds, “and did not include any interest payments. In June and July 2025, Botello repaid both loans in full.”
FINRA concluded that the loans violated FINRA Rule 3240, which prohibits brokers from borrowing money from customers except in cases where their firm has rules governing such and the loan meets one or more of five conditions specified in the rule. As the Letter states, Osaic Wealth forbade such lending arrangements during the period in question “unless the customer was a member of the associated person’s immediate family or the customer was a financial institution.” As a result of these findings, FINRA suspended Mr. Botello for three months and ordered him to pay a fine of $5,000.
Mr. Botello’s BrokerCheck report discloses his termination from Osaic Wealth. Filed in January 2025, it states that the firm fired him in connection with allegations that he “engaged in personal transactions with clients without prior approval from the broker dealer.”
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Ron Botello holds 20 years of securities industry experience. Most recently based in San Antonio, Texas, he was registered as a broker with Osaic Wealth from 2018 until 2025, doing business as Platinum Wealth Solutions of Texas. His registration history includes Signator Investors and Securian Financial Services. His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6. He is not currently registered with any state or firm, having been suspended by FINRA. (Information current as of December 29, 2025.)
