Homewood, Alabama financial advisor Tom Chapman (CRD# 4837315) recently received an investor complaint alleging that his advice resulted in damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that the former Equitable Advisors broker is currently registered as an investment advisor with Aragon Family Office.
Mr. Chapman’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in January 2026, it alleges that as a representative of Equitable Advisors, he recommended unsuitable alternative investments. The pending complaint alleges damages of an unspecified amount.
Aragon Family Office’s website describes the firm’s services for “successful families,” which include estate planning, trustee services, cash flow management, and investment management. As the website describes, the firm pursues a mission “preserve wealth, create long-term value, and support legacy building across generations,” placing families “at the center of everything” it does.
One of many investor protections is FINRA’s suitability standard. As established by FINRA Rule 2111, it requires brokers and firms to “have a reasonable basis to believe that a recommended transaction or investment strategy involving a security or securities is suitable for the customer, based on the information obtained through the reasonable diligence of the member or associated person to ascertain the customer’s investment profile.” Brokers who do not have that reasonable basis, or who recommendation transactions that aren’t suitable for their customers, are considered to have violated Rule 2111.
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and the Securities and Exchange Commission, Tom Chapman holds 21 years of securities industry experience. Based in Homewood, Alabama, he has been registered as an investment advisor with Aragon Family Office since December 2025. He was previously registered with Equitable Advisors in Vastavia Hills, Alabama from 2004 until 2025. His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66; the General Securities Principal Examination, or Series 24; and the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7. He is licensed in Alabama. (Information current as of February 8, 2026.)
