James Williams: $150K Complaint Against Boca Raton Advisor

Newbridge Securities Corporation financial advisor James Williams (CRD# 1631008) has received investor complaints alleging unsuitable sales, unauthorized transactions, and other forms of misconduct. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is a broker based in Boca Raton, Florida.

Mr. Williams’ BrokerCheck report discloses multiple investor complaints. The most recent, filed in June 2022, alleges that as a representative of Newbridge Securities Corporation, he engaged in negligence, breached his fiduciary duty, was negligent in his supervisory duties, and violates Florida’s Investor Protection Act in connection with alternative investment products. The pending complaint alleges damages of $150,000. In a statement on the complaint’s disclosure, Mr. Williams wrote: “I deny all allegations made in this claim.”

An earlier investor complaint, filed in 2009, alleged that as a representative of Janney Montgomery Scott, Mr. Williams recommended unsuitable mutual funds and “failed to adhere” to the customer’s investment objectives. In 2010 the complaint reached a settlement of $45,500.

A third investor complaint, filed in 2009, alleged that he “caused losses by engaging in a [series] of fraudulent, speculative, unauthorized, excessive and unsuitable securities transactions” between 2008 and 2009. In 2010 the complaint reached a settlement of $850,000.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, James Williams holds 34 years of securities industry experience. Based in Boca Raton, Florida, he has been a broker with Newbridge Securities Corporation since 2010. His past registrations include Janney Montgomery Scott (Boca Raton, Florida; 2001-2010 and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; 2000-2001), AG Edwards & Sons (St. Louis, Missouri; 1990-2000), Smith Barney Harris Upham (New York, New York; 1989-1990), and Drexel Burnham Lambert (1988-1989). His credentials include the passage of five securities industry qualifying exams: the National Commodity Futures Examination, or Series 3; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65.
