Jeffrey Lawson: Fifth Third Securities Denies $2.5 Million Complaint

A recent investor complaint against Florence, Kentucky financial advisor Jeffrey Lawson (CRD# 3257793) alleged that his conduct resulted in losses exceeding $2 million. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records indicate that he is currently registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Fifth Third Securities.

Mr. Lawson’s BrokerCheck report discloses two investor complaints. The most recent, filed in February 2023, alleges that as a representative of Fifth Third Securities, he “chose [the] wrong investments, resulting in loss.” The complaint, which concerned stock and mutual fund products, alleged damages of $2.5 million and was denied by the firm.

An earlier investor complaint, filed in 2011, alleged that as a representative of Fifth Third Securities, he misrepresented material facts relating to variable annuity products, leading to purchases in January 2006 and November 2007. The complaint alleged damages of $108,492.38 and was also denied by the firm.

Investors should be aware that when a complaint is denied by the firm that receives it, this denial does not necessarily mean the complaint in question was without merit. Investors can still pursue recovery through other actions, like FINRA arbitration claims.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Jeffrey Lawson holds 23 years of securities industry experience. Based in Florence, Kentucky, he has been a broker and an investment advisor with Fifth Third Securities since 1999 and 2006, respectively. He has no prior registrations. His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66. He is licensed in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. (Information current as of March 18, 2023.)
