Joseph Langlois: $8.5mm Complaint Against DFPG Advisor

San Jose, California financial advisor Joseph Langlois (CRD# 4216281) allegedly recommended unsuitable investments, according to a recent investor complaint. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker with DFPG Investments and an investment advisor with Diversify Advisory Services.

Mr. Langlois’s BrokerCheck report discloses three investor complaints. The most recent, filed in September 2026, alleges that as a representative of DFPG Investments, he breached his fiduciary duty and recommended unsuitable alternative investments. The pending complaint alleges damages of $8,500,000.

A second investor complaint, filed in 2022, alleged that as a representative of First Allied Securities, he recommended unsuitable investments, failed in his supervisory duties, acted negligently, and breached contract. The complaint reached a settlement of $60,000.

In a statement included with the complaint’s disclosure, Mr. Langlois wrote that he was not named in the complaint, which was against his prior firm. “I believe that because of the client[’]s involvement in certain Non-Traded REITs, they were approached to file arbitration directly against the Broker Dealer and not myself,” he added. “I continue to work with the clients and continue to provide investment advice.”

An earlier investor complaint, filed in 2019, alleged that as a representative of First Allied Securities, he misrepresented and sold unsuitable real estate investment trusts. The complaint reached a settlement of $22,060.11.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Joseph Langlois holds 24 years of securities industry experience. Based in San Jose, California, he has been registered as a broker with DFPG Investments since 2015 and an investment advisor with Diversify Advisory Services since 2023. His past registrations include DFPG Investments, First Allied Advisory Services, First Allied Securities, MetLife Securities, and Metropolitan Life Insurance. His credentials include the passage of six securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Operations Professional Examination, or Series 99TO; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6; the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65; and the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63. He also holds the Certified Financial Planner designation. He holds 38 state licenses. (Information current as of November 1, 2026.)
