Tadd Killpack: Why Did International Assets Advisor Resign?

Salt Lake City, Utah financial advisor Tadd Killpack (CRD# 4700629) allegedly recommended unsuitable alternative investments and resigned from his former member firm. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that the former International Assets Advisory representative is currently registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Alexander Capital.

Mr. Killpack’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in August 2026, it alleges that as a representative of International Assets Advisory, he unsuitably recommended three different Regulation D alternative investments. The pending complaint alleges damages of $300,000.

A second disclosure on his BrokerCheck report concerns his resignation from International Assets Advisory. Filed in July 2026, it states that the firm permitted him to resign in connection with allegations that he “failed to comply with the terms of a heightened supervision plan” and “failed to provide copies of bank statements under his control.”

FINRA rules stipulate that brokers like Mr. Killpack can only recommend investments and strategies that are suitable for a given customer. Under FINRA Rule 2111, a broker must “have a reasonable basis to believe that a recommended transaction or investment strategy” is appropriate for the customer’s objectives, a basis reached through reasonable diligence into the customer’s investment profile. FINRA Rule 2010 requires representatives to “observe high standards of commercial honor and just and equitable principles of trade.” Brokers who recommend unsuitable investments may be held liable in the event of losses.

For reference, Regulation D investments are exempt from registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Such investments can come with significant risks. The companies that offer them are not required to provide investors with the same level of transparency as publicly registered securities, making it difficult for investors to keep track of their investments’ performance. They are often also illiquid investments, meaning that investors who wish to sell them may face challenges finding a buyer, let alone a buyer willing to pay a fair price. These factors combine to make Reg D private placements unsuitable for many unsophisticated and/or conservative investors. Suitability, investors should be aware, is a standard under which brokers must recommend investments that are appropriate for a customer’s profile, including their experience and risk tolerance. Investment advisors are similarly beholden to Regulation Best Interest, which stipulates, among other things, that they must recommend investments in a customer’s best interest.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Tadd Killpack holds 22 years of securities industry experience. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Alexander Capital since 2026. His past registrations include International Assets Advisory, International Assets Investment, Bolton Global Asset Management, Bolton Global Capital, and Merrill Lynch. His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Futures Managed Funds Examination, or Series 31; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66. He holds 14 state licenses. (Information current as of September 19, 2026.)
