Integrated Financial Partners’ Cole Smith: $100K Oil & Gas Complaint

Fairfax, Virginia financial advisor Cole Smith (CRD# 5327357) is involved in an investor dispute alleging his advice resulted in six-figure damages. Records maintained by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority indicate that he is a broker with LPL Financial and an investment advisor with Integrated Wealth Concepts, doing business as Integrated Financial Partners.

Mr. Smith’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in December 2022, it alleges that as a representative of Lincoln Financial Advisors Corporation, he recommended an unsuitable oil and gas investment. The pending complaint alleges damages of $100,000.

In a statement included with the complaint’s disclosure, Mr. Smith pushes back against the allegations, which he describes as both frivolous and unfounded. “The investment at issue was suitable at the time that the recommendation was made in 2015,” he writes, continuing: “The investor is a high-net-worth institution with sophisticated principals who were very involved in the consideration of this investment.” In closing, he asserts that the claim is “one of dozens, if not hundreds” filed by “unscrupulous law firms” who employ “high pressure tactics” and “false claims” to lead investors to file groundless complaints.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Cole Smith holds 15 years of securities industry experience. Based in Fairfax, Virginia, he has been a broker with LPL Financial and an investment advisor with Integrated Wealth Concepts since 2016, doing business as Integrated Financial Partners. His past registrations include Lincoln Financial Advisors Corporation (Fairfax, Virginia; 2010-2016) and Ameriprise Financial Services (Centreville, Virginia; 2007-2010). His credentials include the passage of three securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66; and the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE. He is licensed in Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin. (Information current as of February 9, 2023.)
