New REIT Complaint Against Leo Chien, San Gabriel Broker

Cetera Investment Services advisor Leo Chien (CRD# 4169619) has received several investor complaints. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is a broker and investment adviser based in San Gabriel, El Monte, and Alhambra, California. 

Mr. Chien’s BrokerCheck report discloses three recent investor complaints. The most recent, filed in April 2022, alleges that as a representative of Cetera Investment Services, he recommended unsuitable alternative investments involving real estate securities. The pending complaint alleges damages of $100,000.

A second complaint, filed in March 2022, similarly alleges he recommended unsuitable investments in variable annuity and real estate investment trust products. The pending complaint alleges damages between $100,000 and $500,000.

A third complaint, filed in 2021, alleges that he recommended unsuitable direct investments and real estate securities while at Cetera. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages believed to exceed $5,000.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Leo Chien holds 19 years of securities industry experience. Based in San Gabriel, El Monte, and Alhambra, he has been a broker with Cetera Investment Services since 2012 and an investment advisor with Cetera Investment Advisers since 2014. His past registrations include HSBC Securities (San Gabriel, California; 2008-2012), Citigroup Global Markets (Alhambra, California; 2006-2008), Western International Securities (Pasadena, California; 2005), IFMG Securities (Purchase, New York; 2004), Bancwest Investment Services (Omaha, Nebraska; 2003-2004), and Linsco Private Ledger (Fort Mill, South Carolina; 2002-2003). His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Principal Examination, or Series 24; the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; and the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE.
