Megan Schneider: Hurley Financial Advisor Faces $519K Complaint

A recent investor complaint against Corvallis, Oregon financial advisor Megan Schneider (CRD# 4458332) alleges that her conduct resulted in damages exceeding $500,000. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that she is a broker with Geneos Wealth Management and an investment advisor with Hurley Financial Group.

Ms. Schneider’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in September 2023, it alleges that as a representative of Hurley Financial Group, she mis-managed accounts and engaged in other forms of misconduct. The pending complaint alleges damages of $519,475.

As her profile on Hurley Financial Group’s website states, Ms. Schneider is the firm’s vice president. “Megan E. Schneider focuses on investment consulting services and advanced planning strategies,” it continues. “She works directly with [the firm’s president] to achieve the firm’s objectives of constructing global portfolios that participate in growth opportunities while minimizing risk, volatility, and tax consequences to the client. The investment strategies utilized are based on well-respected institutional portfolio design emphasizing low-correlating assets for greater diversification.”

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Megan Schneider holds 21 years of securities industry experience. Based in Corvallis, Oregon, she has been a broker Geneos Wealth Management since 2007 and an investment advisor with Hurley Financial Group since 2006. Her past registrations include AIG Financial Advisors (Corvallis, Oregon; 2005-2007) and SunAmerica Securities (Phoenix, Arizona; 2002-2005). Her credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65.
