Pamela Calhoun: Ex-Cetera Advisor Faces Structured Product Complaint

Fruitland Park, Florida financial advisor Pamela Calhoun (CRD# 4216320) recently received an investor complaint alleging that she recommended an unsuitable investment. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that she is registered as a broker with Fidelity Brokerage Services and an investment advisor with Fidelity Personal and Workplace Advisors.

Ms. Calhoun’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in January 2024, it alleges that as a representative of Cetera Investment Services, she recommended an unsuitable structured product investment and over-concentrated the account. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages.

For reference, “over-concentration,” also referred to as lack of diversification, is described in FINRA’s investor resources as like placing too many eggs in one basket. To avoid the risks of over-concentrated investments, FINRA cautions investors to diversify across and within major asset classes, rebalance their portfolios on a routine basis, vigilantly scrutinize the underlying stocks or bonds in the mutual funds and exchange-traded funds in their accounts, and closely monitor their investments’ liquidity. Brokers who over-concentrate investments in their customers’ accounts may be held liable for damages.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Pamela Calhoun holds 20 years of securities industry experience. Based in Fruitland Park, Florida, she has been a broker with Fidelity Brokerage Services and an investment advisor with Fidelity Personal and Workplace Advisors since 2021. Her past registrations include Cetera Investment Services (Newnan, Georgia; 2018-2021), Scottrade (Peachtree City, Georgia; 2007-2018), Merrill Lynch (Peachtree City, Georgia; 2005), and Charles Schwab & Company (Peachtree City, Georgia; 2003-2004 and Westlake, Texas; 2001-2004). Her credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66. She holds 54 state licenses. (Information current as of February 18, 2024.)
