Raul Benitez: $100K-$500K Complaint Against Ex-Truist Advisor

Fort Lauderdale financial advisor Raul Benitez (CRD# 4457185) has received multiple investor complaints alleging that his investment advice resulted in losses. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and Securities and Exchange Commission records show that the former Wells Fargo broker is currently an investment advisor with Aragon Capital.

Mr. Benitez’s BrokerCheck report discloses several investor complaints. The most recent, filed in November 2023, alleges that as a representative of Truist Investment Services, he recommended an unsuitable Guaranteed Investment Contract. The pending complaint alleges damages between $100,000 and $500,000.

An earlier investor complaint, filed in 2021, similarly alleged that as a SunTrust (now Truist) representative, he recommended an unsuitable investment in a Northstar GIC. In 2022 the complaint reached a settlement of $175,000.

A third investor complaint, filed in 2020, alleged that as a Wells Fargo representative, he misrepresented and recommended an unsuitable investment strategy involving “using a portfolio of securities as collateral for a loan.” In 2022 the complaint reached a settlement of $137,500.

A fourth investor complaint, filed in 2019, alleged that he recommended an unsuitable managed account. The complaint reached a settlement of $8,486.24.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and the Securities and Exchange Commission, Raul Benitez holds 21 years of securities industry experience. Based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, he has been an investment advisor with Aragon Capital since June 2023. His past registrations include Wells Fargo Clearing Services, SunTrust Investments, LPL Financial, JP Morgan Securities, Chase Investment Services, Brokers International Financial Services, Kovack Securities, Mutual Service Corporation, American Express Financial Advisors, and IDS Life Insurance Company. His credentials include the passage of three securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66.
