Rodney Rich: Complaint Against Ameriprise Advisor Settles for $928K

Bellevue, Washington financial advisor Rodney Rich (CRD# 714642) recently received an investor complaint that reached a settlement of more than $900,000. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Ameriprise Financial Services, having previously been registered with MetLife Securities.

Mr. Rich’s BrokerCheck report discloses two investor complaints. The most recent, filed in August 2024, alleges that as a representative of Ameriprise Financial Services, he failed to monitor the client’s annuity contracts and as a result gave her poor advice. The complaint reached a settlement of $928,968.

An earlier investor complaint, filed in 2012, alleged that as a MetLife Securities representative, he sold an unsuitable variable annuity. The complaint alleged unspecified damages and was denied by the firm.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Rodney Rich holds 40 years of securities industry experience. Based in Bellevue, Washington, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Ameriprise Financial Services since 2016. His past registrations include MetLife Securities (Bellevue, Washington; 2001-2016), Ascend Financial Services (St. Paul, Minnesota; 1997-2001), Guardian Investor Services Corporation (New York, New York; 1996), ManEquity (Boston, Massachusetts; 1993-1995), Sentra Securities Corporation (Phoenix, Arizona; 1990-1991), and Monarch Securities (1980-1989). His credentials include the passage of seven securities industry qualifying exams: the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Principal Examination, or Series 26; the Registered Representative Examination, or Series 1; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6TO; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65. He is licensed in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Oregon, Tennessee, Vermont, and Washington. (Information current as of September 29, 2024.)
