Tony Nijmeh: DFPG Advisor Receives $362K Complaint

A recent investor complaint against South Jordan, Utah financial advisor Tony Nijmeh (CRD# 2314585) alleges that his conduct resulted in six-figure damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with DFPG Investments.

Mr. Nijmeh’s BrokerCheck report discloses two investor complaints. The most recent, filed in July 2026, alleges that as a representative of DFPG Investments, he breached his fiduciary duty and made unsuitable recommendations in connection with alternative investments. The pending complaint alleges damages of $362,000.

A second investor complaint, filed in July 2003, alleged that as a representative of MetLife, he engaged in “unethical and deceptive sales practice” in connection with a customer’s request for a direct transfer of his retirement plan money to MetLife. The complaint alleged damages of $14,000 and was denied by the firm.

The SEC’s fiduciary standard stipulates that financial advisors must place their clients’ interests above their own, fully disclose conflicts of interest, and act in good faith and with loyalty to the customer. The fiduciary duty is similar to but ultimately distinct from the suitability standard that applies to brokers, requiring them to recommend investments in line with a customer’s background and objectives, based on reasonable diligence into the customer’s profile. Representatives who breach their fiduciary duty may be found liable for damages and/or subject to disciplinary action.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Tony Nijmeh holds 30 years of securities industry experience. Based in South Jordan, Utah, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with DFPG Investments since 2015. His past registrations include DFPG Investments, First Allied Advisory Services, First Allied Securities, MetLife Securities, and Metropolitan Life Insurance. His credentials include the passage of five securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6; the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65; and the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63.
