Scott Weir: Osaic Advisor Received 6-Figure Complaint

Cedarburg, Wisconsin financial advisor Scott Weir (CRD# 2196183) allegedly misrepresented an investment strategy, according to a recent, denied investor complaint. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Osaic Wealth, doing business as Weir Wealth Management.

Mr. Weir’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in August 2025, it alleged that as a representative of Osaic Wealth, he misrepresented a wrap account strategy, resulting in losses. The complaint alleged damages of $239,697 and was denied by the firm.

Investors should be aware that securities industry rules forbid brokers like Mr. Weir from giving investors inaccurate or incomplete information about the investments or strategies they recommend. FINRA Rule 2020 specifically stipulates that no registered representative may “effect any transaction in, or induce the purchase or sale of, any security by means of any manipulative, deceptive or other fraudulent device or contrivance.” Brokers who misrepresent and/or recommend unsuitable investments may be liable for damages in the event of losses.

Based in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Osaic Wealth since 2024, doing business as Weir Wealth Management. His registration history includes Woodbury Financial Services, First Heartland Consultants, First Heartland Capital, Thrivent Investment Management, and Lutheran Brotherhood Securities Corporation. His credentials include the passage of five securities industry qualifying exams: the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; and the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6. He is licensed in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Texas, and Wisconsin. (Information current as of September 20, 2025.)
